Description
Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs), commonly referred to as forklifts, are widely used in warehouses, construction sites, manufacturing facilities, and industrial workplaces. Because forklift-related incidents can result in serious injuries, fatalities, and property damage, employers are responsible for ensuring operators receive proper training before operating this equipment.
This Train-the-Trainer course is designed to provide trainers, supervisors, and employers with the information needed to present forklift safety training. Participants will review forklift classifications, equipment components, stability principles, inspections, safe operating procedures, load handling, workplace hazards, pedestrian safety, and OSHA training requirements. The course also emphasizes that operators must successfully complete practical, hands-on training and evaluation on the specific powered industrial truck they will operate.
