This training provides participants with the knowledge needed to safely handle, remove, and recycle hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) batteries used in vehicles and equipment. Participants will learn how to identify high-voltage components, recognize potential electrical and chemical hazards, and understand proper de-energization and isolation practices before battery removal. 

The course also addresses safe storage and transportation procedures, emergency response considerations for damaged or leaking batteries, fire prevention awareness, and environmental safety practices. Employees will gain an understanding of OSHA safety requirements and industry best practices to support a safer and more compliant workplace. 

Course Duration: 32 minutes 

IMPORTANT: Participants have 14 days from the date of enrollment to complete this training. Failure to complete the course within the required time frame may require the training to be restarted.

Description

Hybrid and electric vehicle batteries contain high-voltage systems and chemical components that can present serious hazards if not properly identified and handled. Workers involved in the removal, handling, storage, transportation, or recycling of these batteries must understand the associated risks and follow safe work practices. 

This training provides an overview of the hazards related to hybrid and EV battery systems and introduces procedures designed to help reduce the risk of electrical injury, chemical exposure, fire hazards, and environmental impacts.
