Description
Hazardous materials are used in a wide range of industries and may be encountered in manufacturing facilities, construction sites, warehouses, transportation operations, healthcare environments, utility systems, and treatment plants. While some hazardous substances are easily recognized, others may be present in common products used every day.
Employees who work around chemicals and other hazardous materials must understand the risks associated with exposure and the procedures required to safely manage these substances. Improper handling, storage, transportation, or disposal can result in injuries, property damage, environmental contamination, and regulatory violations.
This training introduces participants to the fundamentals of hazardous material safety and hazard communication.
Topics covered include:
- Identifying common hazardous materials in the workplace
- Understanding chemical hazards and exposure risks
- Recognizing GHS labels, pictograms, and warning information
- Understanding Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Selecting and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Safe handling, storage, and transportation practices
- Spill response awareness and emergency procedures
- Proper disposal methods and environmental considerations
Participants will gain a better understanding of how hazardous materials are classified and how to work safely around them while following established workplace procedures and regulatory requirements.
This course is intended for employees, supervisors, and safety personnel who work with or around hazardous materials in industrial, commercial, healthcare, transportation, utility, and public sector environments.
