Description

Employees who work with or around hazardous chemicals must have access to accurate information about the products they use. Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) are one of the most important tools for communicating chemical hazards and providing guidance on safe handling, storage, personal protective equipment, and emergency response procedures. 

This course provides an overview of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) requirements for Safety Data Sheets and explains how SDSs support workplace hazard communication programs. Participants will learn how SDSs are organized, why they are required, and where to find critical safety information when working with hazardous materials. 

The training reviews each section of a standard 16-section Safety Data Sheet, helping learners understand the information available regarding chemical identification, health hazards, physical hazards, exposure controls, first aid measures, spill response procedures, storage recommendations, and disposal considerations. 

Participants will also learn about employer responsibilities related to maintaining and providing access to SDSs, as well as the role SDSs play in helping employees make informed decisions when handling hazardous chemicals. 

Upon completion of this course, learners will have a better understanding of how to locate, interpret, and apply information found in Safety Data Sheets to help reduce workplace risks and promote a safer work environment.
