Construction Heat Stress Awareness and Prevention Training 

Working outdoors or performing strenuous activities in high temperatures can place construction workers at an increased risk for heat-related illnesses. Each year, workers experience serious injuries and illnesses caused by excessive heat exposure, many of which can be prevented through proper awareness, preparation, and safe work practices. 

While heat exposure is especially common in construction, transportation, manufacturing, maintenance, mining, and repair industries, any worker exposed to elevated temperatures, direct sunlight, or physically demanding conditions may be at risk. 

This training is available with Spanish closed captions and is designed to provide workers with the knowledge necessary to recognize heat hazards, prevent heat-related illnesses, and respond appropriately when symptoms occur. 

In This Course, You Will Learn How To: 

  • Identify environmental and personal factors that contribute to heat stress 
  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke 
  • Understand the dangers associated with prolonged heat exposure and overexertion 
  • Apply proper hydration, rest, shade, and cooling techniques 
  • Follow safe work practices during hot weather conditions 
  • Recognize when emergency medical attention may be necessary
