Description
Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) are valuable tools that allow employees to perform work safely at elevated heights. Whether using a scissor lift, boom lift, or other aerial work platform, workers must understand the hazards associated with operating and working around this equipment.
This training covers the fundamental safety requirements for MEWP operations, including equipment inspections, hazard assessments, safe operating procedures, fall protection considerations, stability awareness, and workplace responsibilities. Participants will also learn about industry best practices and the importance of following established safety guidelines to reduce the risk of falls, tip-overs, collisions, entanglement incidents, and other workplace injuries.
The course reviews the roles and responsibilities of operators, occupants, supervisors, and other personnel involved in aerial lift operations. Emphasis is placed on proper planning, communication, equipment selection, and maintaining a safe work environment before, during, and after MEWP use.
By the end of this training, participants will have a greater understanding of how to safely operate and work around mobile elevating work platforms while helping maintain compliance with applicable workplace safety requirements.
