This MSHA Part 48B New Miner Training course is designed for individuals who work on the surface of underground mining operations. This training is not intended for underground miners, but for employees and contractors whose duties are performed on the surface at underground mine sites.
United Safety Solutions delivers this course through a flexible online learning platform that combines self-paced instruction with direct access to an MSHA Approved Part 48B Instructor. During scheduled training hours, participants remain connected through a live audio and video session while completing the required course material, allowing instructors to provide guidance, answer questions, and verify participation.
Federal regulations require new miners to successfully complete 24 hours of Part 48B training before performing work covered under this regulation. This course is designed to help participants develop the knowledge, hazard awareness, and safe work practices necessary for a safe and compliant start in the mining industry.

Live Online Training Requirements
To participate in this course, students must have:
- A reliable high-speed internet connection
- A computer or laptop with a functioning webcam and microphone
- The ability to remain connected to an MSHA Approved Instructor during scheduled training hours
- Availability during the training window of Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM Central Time
Certificate of Completion
Participants who successfully complete the course and achieve the required passing score on all assessments will receive an MSHA Form 5000-23 Certificate of Training, documenting completion of the required Part 48B New Miner Training.
