Respiratory Protection 

Regulation: OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 (General Industry) and OSHA 29 CFR 1926.103 (Construction) 

Respiratory hazards are often invisible but can present serious health risks if not properly controlled. Dust, fumes, mists, vapors, gases, and other airborne contaminants can lead to both short-term and long-term health effects when appropriate respiratory protection is not used. 

This course introduces the principles of respiratory protection and explains how employers and employees work together to reduce exposure to airborne hazards. Participants will learn when respirators are required, how to properly select and wear respiratory protection, and the importance of medical evaluations, fit testing, inspection, maintenance, and training. 

The course also reviews the key components of an OSHA-compliant Respiratory Protection Program and reinforces each employee’s role in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.
