An estimated 2.3 million workers across the U.S. are exposed to an invisible and often unnoticed hazard: respirable crystalline silica dust, a substance that can lead to serious health problems including silicosis and lung cancer. To address this widespread risk, we must educate ourselves with the appropriate knowledge and tools to protect our health.

  • Applying OSHA’s “Table 1” to guide the selection of exposure control measures
  • Understanding the legal responsibilities of employers for implementing prevention methods and monitoring exposure levels
  • Learning how to advocate effectively for essential health and safety measures to further prevent silica exposure within  your workplace
